Student Club

Admission Query

The students of an educational establishment need multiple avenues wherein they can showcase their latent talent. It is equally important to provide the students varied platforms, apart from academics, which would help them groom their persona. This is made possible by facilitating such initiatives like formation of clubs at the University, Institute and Department levels.

GLA University, Mathura understands this well and has a vibrant Life After 5 culture for its 6000-plus hostel residents. The overall 12,000-plus student population of the University is supposed to be a part of at least one of the clubs which are functional at various levels.

In all, there are 70-plus clubs currently operational in the University. Of these, 7 are University level clubs meant for showcasing the singing, dancing, photography, care for nature, fine arts side of the students. Then there are 12 Sports Clubs catering to almost every popular sports be it cricket, football, basket ball, volley ball, badminton, hand ball, kabaddi, athletics, table tennis, chess, power lifting and yoga. The Computer Science and Engineering Department has 10 active clubs, the EC Department 5, the EE Department 2, the Mechanical Engineering Department 9, the Civil Engineering Department 1, Management Post Graduate Department 4, Management Under Graduate Department 6, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences 1, Institute of Pharmaceutical Research 1, Department of Biotechnology 1, Department of English 3, Department of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics 1 each, Institute of Legal Studies & Research 1 and University Polytechnic has 5 clubs. Apart from all these clubs, the University has its own NSS student wing as well which organizes events round-the-year. All the above clubs have been formed in a manner that they are run by student volunteers who take care of all the activities, events, workshops, guest lectures and a plethora of other happenings which take place frequently. Hardly a week passes when there is no scheduled event by one of these clubs. Faculty mentors groom the students and supervise the conduct of the events. The University management puts a lot of thought towards ensuring that the various clubs get all the requisite resources for conducting the events every now and then. Under the able supervision of Mr Himanshu Sharma, Deputy Dean – Student Welfare, these clubs have carved a niche for themselves in the mind-space of the students for the reason that the provide them outlet to escape the hectic academic schedule whereby they can explore their hidden talent and build upon it. So, come be a part of these clubs as well as the 23-year old legacy of GLA!
