The department of Mechanical Engineering blossoms with the specialized technical and professional excellence and as on date it has developed into a pillar of strength of GLA University. In order to cater the need of skilled professionals for rapidly growing industrial base the department is offering Undergraduate (B. Tech), Post Graduate (M Tech) and Doctoral (Ph D) programmes in Mechanical Engineering. The department is constantly decisive to educate the mechanical engineers of tomorrow by integrating the theoretical and practical knowledge and accentuating on the learning and critical thinking.

Excellent facilities in terms of equipment and staff are available to prepare students as professional Mechanical Engineers with focus on innovation, analysis and development of technologies. The department believes in the philosophy that the students can apply the theoretical knowledge to practice and exploration that eventually leads to experiential learning and overall personality development of the student.

The laboratories and workshops in the department have the best equipments and are maintained impeccably. With technological advancement, the significance of machines and tools can hardly be debated. The Mechanical Engineering Department enhance strength in the areas of Production technology, Thermal science, Automobile engineering, CAD/CAM, Design engineering, Industrial engineering, Quality management, Fluid engineering etc. Constant and careful attention to the departmental infrastructure has immensely helped in keeping it up-to-date, thus equipping the students with the necessary tools to acquire technical know-how.

An extremely dynamic and large faculty (current strength of about 43), and a well experienced support staff, give the Department a breadth of research focus and wide range of technical expertise. Our experienced faculty members have a passion for teaching and an avowed commitment to research and development. Majority of the faculty holds their degrees from reputed institutes such as NITs and IITs. Apart from teaching, the faculty is engaged in diverse research areas, they publish their work in highly reputed journals and present their work at prestigious national and international conferences. We are continually striving to improve the quality of our programs by finding new ways of structuring our curriculum and exploring new delivery methods.

We provide our students opportunities to engage in experiments, design work, project work, industrial training, seminars, and team work to enhance the learning process that is so vital for a holistic engineering education. They develop skills of inquiring and exploring new ideas on their own. In essence, they are well prepared for the life-long learning that is vital for an enriching career in engineering. Our students develop an ability to think, are able to innovate, and acquire a strong foundation in technical knowledge.

Evolving a brand-name takes years of nurturing, hard work and passion. The recognition of the mechanical engineering in GLA University is a fruition of such an endeavour by the undergraduate and post-graduate students, and their teachers and mentors. Department not only aims to make our students technically sound and knowledgeable but also to nurture their wisdom and make them a better and responsible human being. Department of Mechanical Engineering, which started its journey in 1998, has brought in the culture of innovation among its students. These students have received training that is ‘deep in depth’, yet ‘wide in breadth’.  They gained experience by working either ‘at the industry’ or ‘for the industry’.

Such training has moulded them into better qualified professionals. It is also expected that our students will continue to pass-on the skills which they have developed during their stay at this department to whole of the world for a better society. The Department offers three Undergraduate programs, two Postgraduate Programs and a Doctoral program, which are upgraded regularly to reflect current developments in the discipline of Mechanical Engineering. Our graduates are exceptionally employable and have been placed in diverse sectors and now working at senior positions around the world for the last two decades.

We have many Departmental Clubs which are managed entirely by the students, which organize various events round the year. We have collaboration with established professional bodies, such as- an MoU with National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad, under the Design Clinic Scheme for MSMEs in education and research, MoU with MSME (Micro Medium Small Enterprise) Technology Development Center, Ministry of MSME Government of India Foundry Nagar, Agra, ASME Student Chapter, SAE Collegiate Club. The Department also plays a key role in running IIM, Mathura Chapter. These societies facilitate research, knowledge sharing and learning for all categories of Professionals.

The Department always looks forward to a healthy and productive interaction with the industry. We are also working with professors on special research projects. At the sam time, our faculty also have academic collaboration with researchers outside and they have been publishing in reputed journals in the field. Department is facilitated with Centre for Excellence CAR (Centre for automotive research), MNDRC (Micro-Nano Development Research Centre), SOLAR Energy for applied research and scholarly pursuit.

Apart from regular classroom teaching and learning, great emphasis is laid on real time projects to ensure that students get a feel of the real life software development scenario and learn to work in a team. Design And Analysis Of An ATV (All Terrain Vehicle)

The objective of our project is to Design and Fabricate an ‘All-Terrain Vehicle.’ It is aimed to simulate a real-world engineering design project and their challenges.
