Course Overview

The Master of Library and Information Science (MLISc) programme is a one-year full-time program, designed to upgrade the student skills required to become an advanced information professional. Here in GLA University, we deliver education to professionals with the theory and practice of acquiring, storing, managing, retrieving, and analysing information majorly vital for the public sector, the business and corporate houses, and the academic world.

MLISc is an advanced programme which course curriculum is based on the latest emerging trends and technologies to develop an advanced workforce in the field and train them with the right skill to procure, harvest, manage, and deliver the right information to the right person in the right form at the right time.

The program offers not only an advanced but also a comprehensive curriculum that will impart theoretical knowledge with practical exposure, and encourage students to develop an in-depth understanding of different aspects of librarianship, such as digital librarian, cyber librarian, virtual librarian, knowledge manager, subject expert librarian, etc.

The course structure encompasses the content including the Research Methodology; Information Analysis And Repackaging; Advanced Knowledge Organization; Information, Communication and Society; Information Storage & Retrieval; Academic Library System; Public Library System and Services; Information and Literature Survey in Social Sciences; Information and Communication Technology Applications in LIS; Retrieval of Scientific Information Methodology and Technical Research Writing; Preservation and Conservation of Library Materials, and Bibliometrics, Informetrics & Scientometrics.
