Workshop Technology Lab strives to provide quality technical education and prepare the students to become well qualified engineers competent to face global challenges and to serve humanity by acquiring adequate professional knowledge, skills and training. This lab is common for all branches of 1st year students with facilities for the group of 30 students to carry out experiments independently. Workshop lab for 1st year is very useful because it provides a basic knowledge of machines, welding, carpentry, smithy, casting and fitting. Major Equipment in Workshop Technology lab: - Lathe machine, Shaper machine, Surface Grinder, Milling machine, Welding machine for arc and gas welding.
The objectives of engineering workshop lab are:

To develop a skill in dignity of labour, precision, safety at work place, team working and development of right attitude.

To develop general machining skills in the students General safety precautions in workshop and introduction. Carpentry Shop: Safety precaution, Kinds of wood and timber, Application of timber as per their classification, Carpentry hand tools and machines, Different types of carpentry joint, Demonstration of wood working machine like, band saw, circular saw, thickness planner, wood working lathe, surface planners etc. Welding Shop: Safety precaution in welding shop, Introduction to gas and arc welding, Soldering and brazing etc. Welding equipment and welding material. Fitting Shop: Safety precaution, Introduction to fitting shop tools, equipment, Operation and their uses, Marking and measuring practice. Machine Shop: Safety precautions, Demonstration and working principles of some of the general machines, like lathe, shaper, milling, drilling , grinding, slotting etc., General idea of cutting tools of the machines.
