Dean, International Relations and Academic Collaborations

Dr. Dilip Kumar Sharma is B.E.(CSE), M.Tech. (CSE) and Ph.D in Computer Science & Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Dhanbad. He is Senior Member of IEEE, ACM, and CSI. He is Fellow of IE and IETE.

Presently he is working at GLA University, Mathura in the capacity of Dean – International Relations and Academic Collaborations since June 01, 2022.

Previous to it, he served in the capacity of Associate Dean (Academic Collaborations), GLA University from 22 June, 2019 to 31 May, 2022. He facilitated the signing of more than 160 MoUs/ Academic Collaborations in the last three years with acclaimed institutions, academia and research centres - Nationally and Internationally along with renowned government agencies, bodies and corporate entities.

He provided due guidance and promoted inter-departmental activities through MoUs/Academic Collaborations and ensured proper coordination among the various departments as well as kept track and maintained all records related to MoUs/Academic Collaborations at the University level. At his present capacity, he would take the mantel of Dean of two aspects, namely, International Relations and Academic Collaborations wherein he would steer the international outreach along with taking forward the academic collaborations with institutions of repute as well as corporate entities.

He is working as a Professor in Department of Computer Engineering & Applications, GLA University Mathura from March 27, 2003 to till now. He has delivered/chaired more than 100 invited talks/guest lectures and chaired technical sessions at various institutes/conferences, internationally and nationally. Currently, he is working as PI/Co-PI of three Government funded research projects worth Rupees 27 Lacs. He has edited 05 Books volumes and 02 are in the ongoing stage. He has published more than 189 research papers in International Journals /Conferences of repute indexed in SCI, Scopus and DBLP databases and participated in 55 International/National conferences.  He has published 04 patents. Also, he provides consultancy services. He has attended 41 short term courses/workshops/seminars organized by various esteemed originations and worked as Guest Editor of International Journals of repute. He has organized more than 21 IEEE/CSI International/National Conferences and Workshops in the capacity of General Chair, Co-General Chair, Convener, Co-convener etc. He has been conferred with the prestigious Significant Contribution Award by the Computer Society of India, apex body in this field in the years 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2017. Additionally, he is the recipient of IEEE U.P. Section 2018 Outstanding Volunteer Award presented at the IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section Annual General Meeting held on January 19, 2019 at IIT Kanpur, India. Also, he has visited Sri Lanka, Belgium, Netherlands, Thailand, Singapore, Nepal, Malaysia, Indonesia, Dubai, UAE in connection with academic pursuits. He is the past Vice-Chairman/ Secretary/ Joint Secretary of IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section India. He is the Past Chairman of Computer Society of India, Mathura Chapter.

His research interests are Machine Learning, Fake news Detection, Web Information Retrieval, Data Mining, Data Science and Software Engineering. He has guided 5 PhD and 24 M Tech Thesis, projects and oversaw various seminars undertaken by the students at the undergraduate/postgraduate levels. Currently, he is guiding 07 PhDs and numbers of M Tech thesis, Seminars and B Tech Projects.

IRAC (International Relations and Academic Collaborations) serves a crucial purpose with regard to gaining the trust of institutions at both the national and international levels. This could be done by collaboration and mutual understanding. We can make the most of the latest information and knowledge from various domains thereby putting them into practice and subsequently gaining from them. GLA University has a number of well-established international partnerships and collaborations. GLAU has developed active collaboration with academic, research institutions, and industry through 20 international tie-ups and more than 100 national tie-ups.

The International Relations and Academic Collaboration Office provides due guidance and support for the international relations and academic collaborations related to GLA University. Also, it assists in the internationalization of education and increases the University's visibility at a wider platform befitting its increasingly important standing.

Collaboration can take place at small as well as large scales; in informal interactions as well as formal class projects; and in short periods of time as well as long-term projects, such as Joint Research Projects, Joint Degree Program, Summer Course Program, Exchange programs, Internships, Case study analyses, Interactive Guest Lectures and in many more ways. We have been able to facilitate the development of our students and faculty members both in terms of the academics and marketplace with the help of exploring new horizons collectively. Collaborative learning at the university incorporates authentic opportunities to help students learn, practice and grow. These new literacy skills are essential for our students' future and overall well-being.

Consistency in terms of collaboration-related engagements is an encouraging sign and a true reflection of trust and confidence in GLA University and its top management. This recognition is inevitably based on GLA University's persistent track record of grooming set of successful students year after year. As part of effort put up by GLAU to enhance its international standing, the International Relations & Academic Collaborations (IRAC) Office promotes the internationalization of GLAU by:

  • being responsible for international policy development, research and country-specific advice to faculty members, students and researchers.
  • coordinating, establishing, developing and reviewing the University’s formal collaboration with overseas universities, research organizations and industries at national and international level.
  • increasing international collaboration activities and attracting & enrolling international students.
  • overseeing the management's protocols as per National Education Policy (NEP).

We will continue our tireless pursuit of collaboration and global excellence in the coming times with much elan and unwavering commitment towards the same.
