HOD Message
Welcome to the Department of Economics at GLA University. Let me help you to know all the relevant information about the academic Programme of this department and also the career prospects.
Uniqueness of the NEP-2020 guidelines for multidisciplinary approach is that, along with the Major courses in Economics, the students have to take Minor, Multidisciplinary and Skill Enhancement courses from other departments, which allows students to learn diverse courses and build their academic career by learning different courses and areas such as management/Data Sciences/Computers /AI/ Agriculture, etc.
Students who wish to study Economics as their major subject can opt to study BA / B.Sc. (Economics) at their Graduation level and can also undertake research at the graduate level, i.e. a research project in the fourth year under the guidance of a faculty member of the department to pursue B. A (Honours with Research). These students who take research at the undergraduate level become eligible to apply directly for Ph.D. Programme after passing a 4-year graduation course.
The Department will be starting with the PhD Programme soon, so that the graduate /post-graduate students can also become part of GLAU and take all academic privileges. Our well-qualified faculty are dedicated to developing capabilities among the students so as to build a solid foundation for their career establishment.
The Department of Economics also offers optional/elective Courses like ‘Economics for Engineers’, ‘Elementary Econometrics’, ‘Entrepreneurship Development’, ‘Socio-Economic Survey Technique and Report ‘, ‘International Business Economics’, ‘Indian Economy with Contemporary Issues’, ‘Economic Thoughts of Indian Thinkers’ for the students of other departments.
