Electronics and Communications Engineering is one of the vast and rapid growing field of Engineering. If you take all the current development as a wholistic picture, there is over 3x increase in demand for EC engineers per year. And it has been increasing exponentially. Hardware, firmware and software are being more and more integrated and interdependent with one another. As things are becoming smarter and smaller, the need for better VLSI engineers is ever increasing. With advent of communication techniques, there is a lot of demand in the telecom industry.

The main objective of the B.Tech. (ECE) Lateral Entry program is to train students with necessary core competencies to enable them to excel in engineering / entrepreneurship careers after completing the programme. It is a three-year professional undergraduate program. The curriculum is designed such that it enables students to get a strong foundation on different aspects of ECE as a compulsory core courses. The students are also provided opportunities to choose specialization electives courses in their areas of interest such as communication and signal processing, control and embedded systems, and VLSI technology and design. In addition to this, soft skills, industrial training, mini projects and minor and major projects are also integral part of B.Tech. course curriculum.

Career Prospect

  • The demand for ECE engineers is going to increase exponentially, especially in the field of defense, space and telecommunications, in times to come. With the advent of 4G and 5G services, data rates are going up to 10-100 gbps. Current generation general purpose microprocessors have Quad Cores, Octa Cores. Artificial intelligence and virtual reality are recent developments. Internet of things, gesture controlled home automation, and many more things have evolved recently.
  • Our needs and demands are set to increase further. 6G will arrive in the market. Requirement of faster processing will lead to evolution of high end core processors. Artificial intelligence virtual reality will reach to new heights. Robotics will give us Butler bots, new companions to help us in daily work.
  • In the government sector the scope for ECE undergraduates is quite high for companies like- DRDO, BEL, BHEL, BDL, ISRO, Navy, BSNL, Indian railways etc. hire ECE students. Even Maharatna and Navratna companies like- CIL, NALCO, IOCL etc. hire ECE students. You can also appear the Indian Engineering Service examination, which has ECE as one of its five choices of subjects or can join the EME Corp of Indian Army.
  • Educational CoordinatorThere is also an option for higher studies in different specializations like VLSI, Microelectronics, etc. An additional advantage of EC is that most of software/IT companies hire from EC domain also.   • Eligibility

    First Division in 3 years Diploma recognized by Board of Technical Education /University in corresponding branch of Engineering or B Sc (PCM) with minimum 60% marks.

    • On the basis of merit in diploma / B Sc (Maths) / first year of B Tech / BE from any recognized university, & online MCQ test of 2 hour duration.
