The Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLISc) programme at GLA University is designed to provide advanced knowledge and skills to students in the field of Library and Information Science and train them with a wide range of rewarding career opportunities in different sectors.
The program offers a comprehensive curriculum that will impart theoretical knowledge with practical exposure, and encourage students to develop an in-depth understanding of different aspects of librarianship, such as digital librarian, cyber librarian, virtual librarian, knowledge manager, subject expert librarian, etc.
The course structure encompasses the content including the Library Information and Society; IT Application in Libraries; Management of Library & Information Centres; Information Sources and Services; Theory and Practice of Library Classification and Cataloguing; Retrieval of Scientific Information Methodology; Library Visit Report and Viva-Voca. The practical hands-on experience in the GLA University Library System which possesses a vast knowledge of repository contains physical and digital resources. Apart from the above, a two to three months especial training on archival and preservation of historical, cultural and heritage artefacts and manuscripts written or engraved by an ancient method.
The objective of the programme is to train information professionals to manage complex documents efficiently and serve the intellectual community with up-to-date content by using the latest technologies with a due diligence approach.
