ABOUT PARC

PARC 2022

The PARC 2022 will be organized by Department of Electrical Engineering, GLA University, Mathura, India during 21-22 January, 2022 at GLA University, Mathura, India. With the conference theme on “Power Electronics, IoT and Renewable Energy applications”, PARC 2022 would have tutorials, keynotes, panel discussion, paper & poster presentations, and opportunities for industry/trade exhibits, with separate industry sessions and student competitions as an integral part of the conference. It would offer ample networking opportunities for scientific & industrial collaboration.

MOTIVATION

Looking at the importance of power electronics, IoT and their applications in the modern smart grid and the increasing integration of renewable energy due to increasing environmental concerns, this conference is planned to further explore these research areas.

Power electronics is an important area of electrical engineering which is a key technology for use of renewable power generation in modern power grids. These devices convert electricity from one stage to the other stage, which leads to a power electronic-based power system. With the high penetration of power electronic-based power generatorsseveral technical challenges will be appeared in power grids. To meet these challenges in future grids, a new research platform is needed for design and test of power electronic-based generators and their integration with the power grid.

Power network operators are rapidly embracing renewable power generation into their power grids to meet the targets in power generation. Renewable energies such as wind and solar have become an inevitable part of power generation in modern grid scenarios. However, unlike conventional sources of power generation, the output of renewable energy sources is intermittent. Advanced control strategies are required for handling the changing dynamics, nonlinearities, and uncertainties of the system. Efficient control strategies would increase the number of operational hours of the system and reduce the cost of the electricity produced.

At the same time renewable energy companies are facing pressure to increase their profits and productivity as the industry scales all over the world. In order to keep up with increasing demand, these companies are always increasing their capacity and thus want improved methods to manage these large capacities situated in remote areas. That’s where IoT analytics can help. IoT analytics can provide - Big data analytics and quicker analysis of sensor outputs, Horizontal integration and vertical application, Decentralization and Integration of advanced analytics and machine learning. With the world relying more heavily on renewables as a critical source of energy, we need a way to harness IoT data quickly and accurately in order to successfully scale renewable energy across the globe. In fact, IoT is arguably one of the main distinguishers for the winners in the next growth stage in the renewable energy sector.

This conference aims to explore the challenges in Future Grid-Interactive Power Converters regarding control strategies, optimal operation, and corrective actions. PARC 2022 also targets to present latest research on new strategies for overcoming the technical challenges of grid integration of renewable energy systems, such as synchronization of interfaced converters with power grid, operation and control of different power converters in power systems under large shares of renewable energies. The other thrust area of this conference is applications of IoT analytics in renewable energy sector.
