The education system in India has been focusing on performance of the students in their exams rather than the actual education they have gained. Performance can be good or bad but it does not determine the student’s thinking and analytical capability. Rote learning is effective in order to perform better in exams but not in case of real life problems, where you have to make use of your investigative mind.
“Research” plays an important role in understanding the present scenario and the causes which have led to such inference, and further has a solid impact on future by its recommendations. Research is essential as it plays an important role in economic growth and social development. While studying, students stick to their curriculum and hence restrict their knowledge. The curriculum's are not updated as it cannot cope up with the dynamism of this changing world. Research instigates the students mind to make critical analysis of every problem by knowing more and more about the problem. It not only increases the inquisitiveness of one’s mind but also helps in satisfying their thirst of knowledge.
Currently focus have been given to studying evaluation and assessment techniques and also to extend the impact of education by including research as an integral part in certain subjects, especially science. There is need to emphasize on gaining an understanding of subjects so that students can remember it for their lifetime and can apply wherever possible. There is also a need for further research to bring out innovative ideas to develop low-cost and effective techniques for certain problems.
GLA Universityhas made its duty to focus on research and to stir up analytical skills and critical thinking of the students. Various departments have also joined their hands for expansion and improvement of research and development.
