Dr. Gupta’s research focuses on the development of novel tools for early malaria diagnosis, case management, and surveillance of malaria elimination activities by understanding important host and parasite factors.

He is also interested in using microRNAs (miRNAs) as a tool with machine learning approaches to detect different infectious diseases with generic symptoms such as fever, which may help in developing cost-effective and easily deployable diagnostic assays for patient care. Additionally, his lab is also assessing the potential of miRNAs in the context of cancer and retinal disorders.

Differentially expressed miR-3158-3p microRNA in severe malaria: from discovery to validation. Funded by SERB, New Delhi, India; Budget – 30,50340/- INR; Duration: 2022 – 2024; Principal Investigator.
