Material Science and Testing Lab

Materials testing breaks down into five major categories: mechanical testing; testing for thermal properties; testing for electrical properties; testing for resistance to corrosion, radiation, and biological deterioration; and non-destructive testing. Materials Testing is a range of highly precise and reliable techniques that determine and measure the characteristics of materials, such as mechanical properties, elemental composition, corrosion resistance and the effects of heat treatments. The quality of a material going into a manufactured product is as important as the reliability of the production process. Materials testing helps us to understand and quantify whether a specific material or treatment is suitable for a particular application. An understanding of your material's properties, therefore, is essential to determine if your material or product is suitable for its intended use or to understand and rectify a failure. Laboratory Testing services are destructive testing methods that are categorized as mechanical, fracture toughness, fatigue, chemical, corrosion and metallurgical testing. Most material testing is performed on metals, although some services are available for composites, ceramics and polymers. Our material testing lab is fully equipped to test and analyse materials for a wide-range of industries to their standards and specified criteria. Our test data and results help determine whether materials, fasteners and treatments meet the requirements of regulatory agencies, design engineers or business quality programs and are suitable for their intended applications. Test specimens and samples are prepared right in our lab for efficient turnaround. They are also available for purchase for your own in-house material testing.
