The ubiquity of information technology and computer power can be applied in many areas ranging from industrial production to everyday.
Therefore, it is essential to develop better understandings and design methodologies for large scale pervasive systems for various
domains, and for the societal challenges.
The ever-growing usage of computer systems in a wide variety of fields has generated a large demand of computer professionals.
India is one of the leading exporters of IT talent and Indian Computer Engineers have played a major role in the growth and
development of IT sector across the globe. According to NASSCOM, the Indian IT exports are expected to expand to the tune of US$
175 billion by 2020 and the domestic sector will account for US$ 50 billion in terms of earnings. In order to meet the demand of
computer professionals, the Department of Computer Engineering and Applications at GLA University offers various programs at both
under graduate and post graduate level. All the programs feature a combination of theoretical and practical elements in order to
provide the students a platform for correlating the learning. In addition, guest lectures and talks by eminent persons from industry
and academia are frequently arranged to keep the students abreast with the latest technologies.
The students are encouraged to develop a wide range of hardware and software based real time projects, knowledge and skills in
various areas of Computer Applications. They are encouraged to be creative, inquisitive, analytical, and detail oriented. Thrust
is given to cultivate the ability to work in a team and to communicate well among the students. In order to promote research, the
University provides scholarship to M. Tech. and Ph.D. scholars based on merit. Moreover, AICTE has also sanctioned scholarship for
GATE qualified candidates of the department for M. Tech. program.Learn More
2019 4th International Conference on Information Systems and Computer Networks
(ISCON) is 10th conference in sequence on Information Systems & Computer Networks (ISCON - 2019) is a forum in which deliberations will be held on various topics pertaining to Information Systems and Computer Networks. Information Systems addresses the challenges for the gathering, processing, storing, distributing and use of information, and its associated technologies, for society and organizations. The computer networks is an emerging domain and a basis for wide variety of research covering various kinds of network like distributed network, ad-hoc network, sensor network, content centric network, grid computing, peer to peer networks, different wireless networks, etc. The networks domain has generated challenges for transmission of various data formats in secure form, making technology available for real time data exchange and so on. Up-to-date, complete and accurate information has now become a necessity to survive in an increasingly competitive world. Modern organizations become more and more dependent over information systems to deal with the complexity and changeability of the modern system.
An information system is essentially made up of five components hardware, software, database, network and people. These five components integrate to perform input, process, output, feedback and control. Hardware consists of input/output device, processor, operating system and media devices. Internet of Things (IOT) consists of emerging technologies to communicate between software/hardware components. Innovative wireless communication and data networking technologies are required to support IOT technologies. For smaller size and improved performance, whole System is required to be implemented as system on chip (SOC), which requires integration of transmitter, receiver, antenna, filters, power supply and peripheral devices integrated on single chip as SOC. SOC are required to be implemented with state of the art VLSI and signal processing technologies.

Divya Saxena received the M.Tech. and PhD degrees in CSE from the IIITM, Gwalior, India and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, India in 2012 and 2017, respectively. Currently, she is working as a Postdoctoral Fellow, in the University Research Facility in Big Data Analytics (UBDA), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. Prior to that, she worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow, in the Department of Computing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. Her research interests include deep learning, data mining, big data analytics, and urban computing.
Spatio-temporal data mining techniques have been explored to extract meaningful information and knowledge from the massive data for better planning and services in urban applications, such as smart transportation, urban planning, etc. As the volume of spatio-temporal data continues to increase significantly, traditional time-series prediction approaches could not model the complex spatial correlation and temporal dependencies accurately. Recently, deep learning based spatio-temporal prediction models are proposed to learn the spatio-temporal characteristics of data. However, it is still very challenging to adequately learn the complex and non-linear spatio-temporal relationships. In recent times, Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), a novel class of deep generative models has gained considerable attention as a powerful model for learning complex and high-dimensional distributions. GANs learns rich distributions implicitly over images, audio, and data which are hard to model with an explicit likelihood. In this talk, I will present our recent research work on GANs for spatio-temporal data prediction. First, I will discuss the challenges associated with the spatio-temporal data prediction and recapitulate the limitations of the existing deep learning techniques to model spatio-temporal relationships. Second, I will discuss the basic GANs framework with its challenges and applications. Third, I will consider a case study of GANs for taxi demand prediction in a city. Finally, I will conclude with the possible research directions.
